HOW TO CHOOSE A LUGGAGE?
Your Travelling Needs
Luggages are labelled based on their longest measurement (usually its height). E.g. A 22-by-14-by-9-inch luggage would be labelled as a 22-inch luggage. The most popular sizes are:
20 inch, 22 inch, 24 inch and 28 inch
You will need to consider the duration of travel and size of your items
As a general rule of thumb:
Travelling < 5 days = 20 inch / 22 inch luggage
Travelling < 10 days = 24 inch luggage
Travelling > 10 days = 28 inch luggage
Despite being uncommon, 30 and 32 inch luggages do exit but we do not recommend using them as they will likely exceed the airline’s size/weight requirements.
The most popular sizes (according to sales volume) are the 22 inch and 24 inch luggages, which accounts for more than 50% of the sales. Frequent travellers should consider the 24 inch luggages which has the best combination of space and portability.
The 28 inch luggage can be a hassle to carry around, however it is a good option for those who are travelling abroad for a longer period or have larger items to transport.
CHECK-IN OR HAND CARRY LUGGAGE
Next, decide whether you want to check in or hand carry your luggage (bringing it onto the plane).
Note that different airlines and countries have different limitations regarding hand carry luggage/baggage size and weight.
The maximum size for hand carry luggage for many airlines would be 22 Inch.
If you plan on carrying your Luggage onto the plan then you’re limited to luggage/baggage sizes 22 inch and below.
The figure below shows the size limitations for some airlines. Be sure to check with your airline regarding the specific size.
